Electric Cart Sprayer Battery Will Not Charge

Modified on Tue, 15 Sep at 5:57 AM

Applies to: Handy Cart Sprayer, 3 gallon wheeled cart sprayer sold under the Scotts and Roundup names (manual 184328). Some models have a manual pump, some have the Pump Zero rechargeable electric pump; the article says which.

What causes this: The charger is not plugged in, the outlet is dead, the charger has failed, the battery is too hot to charge safely, or the battery can no longer be charged.

How to fix it:

  1. Plug the charger into the outlet.
  2. If no lights come on with the charger plugged in, check that the outlet is working.
  3. If the outlet works and there are still no lights on the pump, replace the charger.
  4. If the red light keeps flashing, the battery is too hot for safe charging. Allow the pump to cool.
  5. If the red and green lights flash alternately, the battery cannot be charged. Replace the pump.
