What causes this: Dirt or debris is under the check valve on the pump, or the check valve is chipped, torn, or swollen.

How to fix it:

1. Clean the check valve and the valve sealing surface on the pump. Remove any dirt or debris.
2. Inspect the check valve. If chipped, torn, or swollen, replace the check valve.
3. Reassemble and test with clean water.
