Sprayer Material Overflows Through Pump Barrel (Smith S103E)

Applies to: Smith Performance S103E Stainless Steel Compression Sprayer (Model 190448)

What causes this: Dirt or debris under the check valve on the pump, or a chipped, torn, or swollen pump check valve.

How to fix it:

1. Depressurize the sprayer. Squeeze the shut-off lever until all pressure is relieved.
2. Remove the pump assembly and inspect the check valve (#3T) on the pump. Clean the check valve and the valve sealing surface on the pump.
3. If the check valve (#3T) is chipped, torn, or swollen, replace it as described in the Pump Disassembly and Reassembly section.
4. Reassemble the pump and test by pumping to confirm the handle no longer rises when unlocked.
