Sprayer Leaks at Pump or Does Not Build Pressure (Smith S103E)

Modified on Tue, 15 Sep at 6:21 AM

Applies to: Smith Performance S103E Stainless Steel Compression Sprayer (Model 190448)

What causes this: Dirt or debris on the tank cover o-ring, a damaged o-ring, a faulty check valve at the bottom of the pump, or a worn piston o-ring.

How to fix it:

  1. Remove the pump assembly. Inspect the tank cover o-ring (#3H) for dirt or debris. Clean the o-ring and closure surface.
  2. If the tank cover o-ring (#3H) is chipped, torn, swollen, or defective, replace it with a new one as described in the Pump Disassembly and Reassembly section of the manual.
  3. Inspect the check valve (#3T) at the bottom of the pump assembly. If it is missing or damaged, replace it as described in the Pump Disassembly and Reassembly section.
  4. Inspect the piston o-ring (#3M). If worn or damaged, replace it as described in the Pump Disassembly and Reassembly section.
  5. Reassemble the pump, refill the tank with water, and test for pressure before returning to service.
