Sprayer Pump Will Not Turn On Despite a Full Charge

Applies to: Battery-powered sprayers including DEWALT (DXSP190681, DXSP190612), CRAFTSMAN (CMXCAFG190640, CMXCAFG190682), Smith (190567), Scotts, and other lithium-ion models

What causes this: The battery shows a full charge and the indicator light turns on, but the pump motor will not start when the trigger is pressed. This is most often caused by an internal pump fault, chemical residue blocking the pump, or an internal protection circuit that has tripped. Less commonly, the pump head itself has failed.

How to fix it:

1. Confirm the battery is seated correctly. Remove and reinsert the battery to make sure it is fully clicked in.
2. Check the indicator lights. A solid green light means the battery is charged. A blinking red light indicates a thermal or fault condition. A continuously blinking light means the pump cannot run safely.
3. Allow the sprayer to cool for 30-45 minutes if it has been used heavily. Battery-powered pumps shut down to protect themselves from overheating.
4. Try a different fully charged battery if available. This rules out a damaged battery being misread as full.
5. Inspect the pump for chemical residue. Chemicals that dry inside the pump can lock the motor. Run clean water through the pump and follow the cleaning steps in your manual.
